Man, someone has a case of the "Monday’s"…

Published by Taliesin under Random Topics, Rants

I wouldn’t say that to someone who HAS a case of the Monday’s, of course. Anyone who has watched Office Space should know that can get you killed.  Still, today could have gone better.

To begin with, I am SORE.  Holy moly, I didn’t think it was possible for me to be this sore.  Looks like I’m just getting old.  lol.  So being sore makes the day somewhat harder.  However, even being completely pain-free wouldn’t have made getting stuck in the Bay Area any more palatable.

Those of you who know me know that I cannot stand the Bay Area. I know there’s all kinds of stuff to do here, there are breweries here, there are people here, blah blah blah.  Nothing I have seen, heard about, or even dreamed could exist in the Bay Area is worth the hassle of being here.  The traffic is maddening, there are too many people here, etc.  I wouldn’t want to live here, and I sure don’t like visiting.

And today, I am blaming more on the Bay Area. I had to go to Hayward today, to troubleshoot a DSL connection at one of our offices that is having some major problems.  The real problem is that this connection problem is an intermittent one, which means that it only happens sometimes, and never at a predictable time. While I was talking to AT&T, the problem happened, but the tech was running a test, so she missed it.  Then, when everything was back up, they determined that there was nothing wrong, and that everything was perfectly normal. Well…YEAH!!!  The two prior techs that I had worked with said that they saw that the modem was getting a weak signal. This last tech said that everything looked perfect.  Someone is lying to me, and I don’t see why the two prior techs would lie and say that something looked messed up if it really didn’t, so I’m leaning toward the last tech having fibbed at me.

So now I’m stuck here waiting for a tech to get here.  They promised me that the tech would be here by 5pm.  What really sucks about that is that if the tech gets here at 4:50pm, he’s on time, but I’m supposed to be leaving in 10 minutes. But I won’t leave if that happens, because I want my users’ problem fixed.  So I could be here until God knows when.  After that, I have AT LEAST a 2 hour drive home.  Who knows when I am getting home?

This kind of thing happens in IT, I know.

But I’m blaming it on the Bay Area.
